Serap Kırbız-Şimşek

Asst. Prof. Dr. Serap Kırbız Şimşek received the B.Sc. (2002), M. Sc.  (2005) and Ph.D. (2013) degrees in Mathematical Engineering, Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, respectively. During her PhD, she worked at Philips Research Center, Eindhoven, from 2006 to 2007 on a project titled "Watermarking of AAC Bitstreams". From 2010 to 2011, she worked on "Perceptual Audio Source Separation" as a visiting researcher with the Department of Cognitive and Neural Systems, Boston University, USA. As a post-doc, she studied on "Informed Source Separation for Musical Signals" at Gipsa-Lab, Grenoble, France from 2013 to 2014. Her research interests include digital signal processing, pattern recognition, audio watermarking, audio source separation, matrix and tensor decomposition and statistical modelling. Her project titled "Coupled Tensor Factorization for Dialogue Enhancement" is supported by TUBITAK. Serap Kırbız Şimsek has been working as an assistant professor in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, MEF University, since 2014.

Research Interests: Digital signal processing, pattern recognition, audio watermarking, audio source separation, matrix and tensor decomposition, statistical modelling.

İ. Engin Türe

After graduating from the Department of Engineering Physics, Ankara University in 1969 he worked as a research scientist at Ankara Nuclear Research Center until 1977. During the period of 1972-1973 he has been a research staff for a year at Birmingham University (UK) in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. After 1977 he has served for 3 years as a lecturer at the Middle East Technical University and then he went to Durham University (UK)  in 1980, where he worked as a research assistant and at the same time completed his PhD in 1984. He continued to work at the Durham University in a postdoctoral research capacity until September 1985. In 1985 he joined the General Electric Co. as a semiconductor laser group leader at the Hirst Research Centre, London. In September 1988 he started to work at UMIST (Manchester) as a project coordinator. Following his return to Turkey in 1990, he first worked at Gaziantep University and later joined the Marmara Research Centre-TUBİTAK as head of the Energy Department in 1992.  In 1998 he was appointed as a professor at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul and worked as Head of Physics Department until 2004. Following his early retirement he was appointed as an associate director to UNIDO-International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies in 2005, where he later served as the director of the centre until 2008. In the same year he joined Halic University as the Rector of the university and worked until 2010. At the same year Dr. Ture established his own company ARENTEK (Advanced RENewable TEChnologies and continued  his research until 2014. Recently Dr. Türe has been appointed at MEF University as lecturer in the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering.  
Dr. Ture has more than 50 publications mostly in international journals and conferences and has received over 500 citations to his works. He has also been given over 40 invited talks around 30 countries. 

Research Interests: Physical electronics, semiconductor devices, MOS integrated circuits, radiation detectors, optical communication systems, lasers, photovoltaic devices, renewable energies, hydrogen energy, fuel cells.

Ahmet Serdar Tan
Assistant Professor

Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Serdar Tan received his BS degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2003, and his PhD degree on telecommunications from Bilkent University in 2009. Between 2009-2010 he worked as a post-doctoral researcher in Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden on coherent fiber optical communications. In 2011, Dr. Tan joined the R&D department of Turk Telekom as team leader where he participated and lead EU and TÜBİTAK funded R&D projects on telecommunications. In 2014, Dr. Tan joined MEF University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department as Assistant Professor. Dr. Tan is the founder and CEO of the R&D company Gradus Technologies focusing on 4G/5G technologies and ICT R&D consultancy. Dr. Tan also holds the official patent agent degree of Turkish Patent Institute.

Research Interests: Wireless Communications, 4G/5G, Software Defined Networks, Error Correction Coding, Synchronization for Coherent Fiber Optical Communications, Video Communications.

Ebru Arısoy-Saraçlar
Assistant Professor

Ebru Arısoy-Saraclar received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2002, 2004, and 2009, respectively. She worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Speech Technologies for Media and ACCES Department, IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY from 2010 to 2013. At IBM, she had a key role in developing language modeling approaches for Voice Search and Mobile Dictation applications. She moved to IBM Turkey and worked there before joining MEF University in 2014. Her main research interests include automatic speech recognition, statistical language modeling and speech and language processing for educational technologies.

Research Interests: Automatic speech recognition, speech and language processing, deep learning for language modeling, speech and language processing for educational technologies.

Tuba Ayhan
Assistant Professor

Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuba Ayhan received the B.Sc. (2008) and M. Sc. (2010) degrees in Electronics Engineering programme from Istanbul Technical University respectively. With thesis entitled "Design and Implementation of mm-precise Ranging for Indoor Positioning Systems", she received her PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven in 2016. From 2016 to 2018, she worked as a post-doc on design and implemetation of approximate computing circuits with ECC group in Istanbul Technical University. Her research interests include embedded systems, digital implementation of artificial neural networks, FPGAs and implementation of signal processing systems. Tuba Ayhan has been working as an assistant professor in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, MEF University, since 2018.

Research Interests: Embedded systems, artificial neural networks, FPGAs, implementation of signal processing systems.

Ahmet Togo Giz

I finished TED Ankara High School, started METU Electrical – Electronics Engineering Dept., then switched to Physics Dept., and graduated from METU Physics. My PhD is on astrophysics from UC Berkeley and I taught at ITU as an Assist. Prof., Assoc. Prof and Prof. until my retirement. My research interest is computer simulation and modelling of polymer kinetics. Since retirement I have been working at MEF Electrical and Electronics Engineering Dept.  

Research Interests: Computer simulation and modelling of polymer kinetics.
