Müştak E. Yalçın (Istanbul Technical University)
Professor

Müştak E. Yalçın was born in Unye, Turkey , in 1971. In 1993, he obtained the degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (I.T.U.), Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty. In 1997, he received the Master degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from I.T.U. Institute of Science and Technology. In 2004, he recieved the Ph.D. degree in Applied Sciences from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. Between June 2004-December 2004, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT)/SCD-SISTA. He was also a Visiting Research Fellow at The Institute for Nonlinear Science, University of California San Diego (UCSD) in 2009. He is currently a Professor with Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. His research interests are mainly in the areas of the theory and application of nonlinear circuit and systems. He is co-author of the book "Cellular Neural Networks, Multi-Scroll Chaos and Synchronization" (World Scientific).

Research Interests: Theory and applications of nonlinear circuits and systems.

Serkan Şimşek (Istanbul Technical University)
Associate Professor

Serkan Şimşek was born in Amasya, Turkey, in 1979. He received the B.S. degree as  highest ranked student of the department of electrical and electronics engineering from Istanbul University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2001.He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2003 and 2008, respectively.

Between March 2007-December 2007, he was a visiting scholar at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Department of Electrical Computer Engineering.He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. He was coordinator of graduate ITU Program of Telecommunications Engineering between 2014-2016. He is also vice head of ECE department of ITU, member of faculty executive board and vice coordinator of NJIT-ITU Dual Diploma Program.

He is a recipient of the 2007 Leopold B. Felsen Award for Excellence in Electrodynamics. He is co-author of the undergraduate book "Microwave Techniques-Passive Circuits and Problem Solutions (Published in Turkish, 1st Ed:2011,2nd Ed:2015).

Research Interests: Electromagnetic theory, guided-wave theory, periodic structures, photonic crystals, generalized scattering matrix (GSM) representations and Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTS).
